Hi, We are currently looking after a stray we found under our shed. Here goes the problems... she was pregnant delivered two days(JUNE 9TH) before I could catch her to take her to the vet, had 6 kittens all seemed OK all passed away day by day(maybe fading kitten syndrome?) with the last guys I got her to the vet , she tested positive for FeLV. I am aware that within 7-10 of birth she could get pregnant. Again and of course with kids and packages she escaped the garage(I fully intended to get her spayed) and was gone for days then showed up with her Bo I guess. So Now what do to do if she delivers again? And if it is the silivia and milk that carry the virus could the kittens be spared by removing them from her immediately?
And is FeLV harmful to our dog?I know it contagious to our indoor cats. With three girls 11,8, and 6 I'm not sure we could handle another litter of kittens that would pass away day by day one by one
I felt treated very unsympathically by our vet's office.
So I've not asked them these questions.

You probably will not find much sympathy anywhere because people are generally scared of animals that are sick, even at the vets, especially with that type of disease. The best thing for your family and dog is to not have the poor baby around them at all, but then you'll feel guilty (won't you?). I've had all types of animals and have had some pass away in my arms. I'll always remember them and I dearly love the ones I have (3 cats). But if it would come down to my daughter's health, or her children, then guess what I would choose? I love animals, but I love my own kin more, that's the law of nature. May God bless you and help you make the right choice. BY this time, you probably did make a choice since July, but if not, I hope everything worked out for the good of all of you. Chery:)
