I am 20 years old. I just started on birth control about 5 weeks ago. After the second week of starting I started to get brown spotting very light. Then it got heavier but really dark, not like my periods (which have been regular for as long as I can remember) and this was two weeks before I was supposed to get my period. That lasted about 7 days, normally my periods last 4-5 days. Then the brown spotting/discharge remained for about three and a half weeks. It is only for a little bit everyday but I really don't like it. Now I am getting pain and it is starting to freak me out. :eek: I have been having sex with my boyfriend for about four months now. I took a pregnancy test which was negative. WHAT IS GOING ON AND WHAT SHOULD I DO!

This may be nothing more than an issue of breakthrough bleeding. But to be sure you should contact your doctor.

It is very possible that this pill (if that is what it is) is not right for you. Not all birth control is right for everyone.

You will get plenty of feedback, I am sure, and I hope you get more. But I am a nursing student and have at least a little knowledge in this area. ;)
