Currently, I am in the process of getting a divorce from my wife. I am a Canadian Permanent Resident Holder (will get my passport in 1 yrs time) but I was told that I have to wait for 3 more years from the day my wife got her residency in order to get remarried.
My wife got her PR about a yr back, which mean I have to wait two more years to get married and sponsor my new wife from my country. That's cruetly.. I understand where the Canadian Immigration is coming from (to prevent people from coming to this country via illegal sponsoring). But what about genuine cases like me.. why do I have to suffer? Or is there other alternatives? I filed for divorce for my wife in my country although both of us reside here (me in calgary and she in toronto).

Thanks

You must wait the 3 years friend. There are other options available save sponsorship though. Whether she qualifies or whether it is best tojust wait the 2 years is contingent on the circumstances. More information would be necessary to give you the best advice. PM me anytime:)
