View Full Version : Maple-family trees dying?

It is almost July and all of the deciduous trees in my area have all of their leaves. These maple-family trees (maple leaves, but several "trunks"--actually pretty ugly without their leaves) have hardly any leaves, but are not entirely without leaves. I would have to go out and purchase a chainsaw and it would be a precarious and arduous task to cut them down. If I can save them somehow, I'd love to do so.

Thanks for any help!

It sounds to me like they are dead. Scratch the outer bark off. If it is brown and not green underneath, they are dead. You may as well cut them down. It is possible somebody may do it for you for the fire wood. Make them responsible for disposing of the brush too.

Silver Maples often have several trunks. Try to replace them with something else.
