Hi,

I have a 1994 Honda Accord. Over the last year, whenever it rains or is very humid (live in FL) it will not start. It tries, it cranks but just doesn't turn over. If it has been hot and dry, I have no problems starting it... it was great during our dry season.

Can you give me any ideas of what this could possibly be.

You need to carefully go over the electrical system and weather-proof it. I would remove each spark plug wire (one at a time) and clean and wipe them down with silicone spray. Upon reinstalling each wire, coat the plug terminals with dielectric grease. This includes the terminal going into the distributor cap and the boot going over the spark plug itself. It's good to wipe down the porcelein on the spark plug with dielectric grease. If I was having this problem on an older Honda, I would replace the igniter, coil, rotor, and distributor cap. I would use 240 grit abrassive cloth and clean the 4 terminals going to the igniter and the 2 leads going to the coil. Apply silicone grease to the back of the igniter and coat the 4 terminals and 2 leads with a thin coating of dielectric grease. Squeeze the female igniter terminals with a pair of pliers, to ensure a tight fit. Distributor caps are notorious for moisture building up inside and causing hard starting. Most Honda caps are ventilated and not so prone to causing problems. With good technique and thoroughness, this should go a long way toward weather-proofing your Accord.

If the problem persists, you might want to check out/replace the main relay, apply dielectric grease to the ECM connectors, and clean and apply dielectric grease to the main ECM ground (on the thermostat housing) and the main engine ground.
