How do I keep my female cat from pooping on my carpet. I have two litter boxes and she has used them until about a month ago?

I am too eager to read this response!! Does your kitty have smelly tinkle?

Did you change the litter brand? Did you move the boxes? Did you change her food? Is there any change in her life at all? (Cats HATE change!)

I had this problem with a young female cat many years ago that I had gotten as a kitten. It was about the same time that I bought the old home that I live in now.

One time when I was having one of my church choirs over for a party, I was showing them around my home. Beauty was the cats name. Yea, I know. A little different for a cat. My mom and kids and I had all picked out names for her, wrote them on small pieces of paper. Stuck those in a box. Drew one out. My mom's choice won. She really was beautiful. A tortoise shell colored fur. I miss her very much! I still have one of her sons.

Anyway, when I was showing the choir around the bedroom areas, it turned out that Beauty had laid one right in the middle of one of the beds! Major embarrassment for me!

Another time, I found that she "had done her thing" on one of the throw rugs in the front foyer. My solution was that I picked her up by the scruff of her neck, held her over her "accomplishment", scolded her and dropped her in it! Never had a problem with her concerning her dumping anywhere but in the litter box after that.

Also, another thing that might work is the good old-fashioned spray bottle filled with water.

Another thing that I have heard, is that some cats really develop a penchant for rubber-backed carpets and throw rugs. Sometimes even certain soft plastics. I know that Beauty's son Boots, is into soft plastic.
