Hi there,
Does anyone know where I can dispose of my old used batteries. I know you are not suppose to just put them in the garbage.

You will have to access your community service people to find out how to in your area.

Some stores also accept old batteries.

Here is a website to help find recycle locations:
ehso - links to additional information (http://www.ehso.com/ehso2.php?URL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.earth911.org/master.asp?s=ls&serviceid=126)
I entered Boston, Mass as an example and found that Staples, Radio Shack, and Verizon accept household batteries.
I see my link does not work to the specific Boston selection, so you will need to go through the location and product process for your location. It also will find locations in Canada.
I had heard that some Home Depot stores also accept batteries.
Auto batteries are a bit different, and will usually only be accepted by stores that sell them.

A lot of landfills have areas to dispose of them... or you could ask a local car dealer/service people.
