You probably won't be able to get pregnant for a year or longer. It's the way depo works. I hate that shot and highly recommend against it.

This isn't always true yes sometimes it can take some time to get pregnant but it depends on the woman.

Yes, you can. If you decide to become pregnant, the first step is to stop receiving doses. After the effect of the last dose of Depo-Provera had diminished, 83% of women got pregnant at some point within a year. This number is similar for women who did not use any form of birth control. Eighty-five percent of women who did not use birth control conceived within a year.

So, when you stop using Depo-Provera, you will return to your underlying level of fertility. But if your goal is to become pregnant within the next year, Depo-Provera is not recommended. Being able to get pregnant after using Depo-Provera has nothing to do with how many shots you've had. Whether you've had 1 dose or 20, it's the same. For some women it takes more time. And for other women, it happens faster.

Most women return to their pre fertility state within one year after stopping depo use. Some longer, some shorter time. Just remember that ovulation can occur before you have a your first normal period.

Everyone woman reacts to the depo shot differently. Some have no adverse effects from it at all and get pregnant right away. Others it takes them months to years and some are diagnosed with " unexplained infertility" (as my friend was) It took me 12 months to get my periods back to regular and my body back to a symbolance of normal, and 18 months after being off the shot to get pregnant.I personally would never suggest the shot to anyone as I hate it, and had terrible side effects from it. But not all women do. The spotting is normal, the shot puts your body into a post-menopausal state, and you do not ovulate, and most often don't have any bleeding. It is up to your body on how well it reacted to the shot, and how quickly it leaves your system. I would suggest that you do not try to get pregnant for about 6 months, if not longer, for the depo to get out of your system. Also make sure once you do start trying to conceive get on a prenatal immediately and in the mean time at least take a calcium supplement(as the depo greatly depletes your calcium levels) good luck

I also agree. I do not recommend the depo if you do want more children.
