Hi there,I've been in a relationship now for just over 2 years and I want to but a property.My name will only be going on the mortgage but my partner will be living with me in this property.
Can you tell me whether or not that if we did split up, would she be entitled to anything as her name would not be on the deeds to the house (mortgage).I will be the only one who is putting money into this property if I bought it.Im abit worried about this because no one seems to know about this commonlaw law??

Some states do still have commonlaw status for partners, so don't. If your states doesn't than they are not entitled to the property if you are the only person on the deed and mortgage.

But is doesn't mean they cannot try.

Most commonlaw is based on the UK anyway, so I would check with a attorney to make sure.
