I am 17 years old and I'm aware that you need consent from a parent to get your lip pierced. My parents are fine with the piercing I want to get and even took me to the local piercing studio to get it but the studio told me they would not do that piercing for some reason (unknown to me or any other professional piercers Ive spoken to). Now I have to drive an hour out of town to get it done and my parents are too busy working to take me. Can I just take an older friend and say they're my parent or an older relative? Idk maybe I could call my mom haha I don't know? Any answers?

More involved then meets the eye owing to the recent mouth pierings that have gone really bad. A lot of infection involved, teeth missing, gum disease, etc. Probably why they opted out of the agreement. You would be holding your friends libel if anything happened to your mouth during the time it is healing. If you get a really bad infection then who would pay the bill?

And really, why do you want to talk funny for 3 months anyway. I don't get it ? Your pallet and tongue have to adjust to whatever you have lodged there to compete with your speech.

A piercer is not required to pierce someone underage, even with parental consent. A phone call to your parents doesn't work because there is no way to verify who the person on the phone is. You can't take an older friend and say he/she is your relative, because the person giving consent has to be your parent or legal guardian, and the shop might ask for proof. If the shop is caught piercing someone underage without parental consent, they can get in a lot of legal trouble, and that's not fair to the shop.

If you drive an hour out of your way with an older friend and the next place turns you down, then what? Wait until your parents are able to take you and do it properly. It wouldn't hurt to call the shop before you go to make sure they will pierce you.

More than likely the shop is either really low class and being lazy or really high class and going stictly by the laws I can't see them not piercing a 17 year old maybe a 13 year old but 17 is like a year away from the legal age anyway,U could pierce it yourself by buying the needle and ring from the inet which works but hurts worse for some reason
