Is taking fish oil supplements a day beneficial like aspirin? I am wary because aspirin is hard on the stomach.

Well it does not serve the same purpose, exactly. Asprin thins the blood which helps to keep a heart attack from happening. Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids which help with inflammation and help to reduce the bad cholesterols in the body. I would not swap one for the other. It is common for asprin to irritate the stomach; have you tried brands that are coated, these help prevent stomach irritation. If this doesn't help try eating before you take it and drink lots of water. Keep taking the fish oil, it has many health benefits. Flax seeds also contain omega-3's; I still them in with my oatmeal in the morning!

I have heard that fish oil can also thin the blood, so you may want to research that and ask your health care provider too, because this particular effect is reminiscent of what aspirin does.
