Hi:
Got a fixer-upper; need to install a Honeywell RTH6300 5-2 Day Programmable thermostat. I have the wires, the old unit was just yanked out of the wall. 6 wires... black/white/red/orange/green/"cream"?

Problem is they are not marked. How do I determine which wire goes to which terminal on my new thermostat?

Hopefully this is so simple as I will feel like %$#@ if I need to call an electrician to install this for me!!

Thanks to all in advance!

Read page 6 of this file. You might have the wrong thermostat to start with.

Hi:
One of the wires was unused. Checked the sticky notes (which I should have done first!) and got it working 10 minutes before reading your post.

Thanks in advance, this is a great forum!

How do I install a Honeywell programmable thermostat if the only wires I have coming out of my wall are red and black, and neither of them are labeled?
