Soldier home for the holidays loses his life saving others in a Bronx NYC inferno
An immigrant from Ghana who came to America six years ago and recently graduated from Army Basic Training died helping people escape from an apartment fire. A true American hero in every sense of both words.

A few days ago the Army awarded Emmanuel Mensah The Soldier's Medal, the highest award of the Army for heroism outside of combat. New York State awarded him its Medal For Valor.

The citation on the state medal reads: “His courageous and selfless act in the face of unimaginable conditions are consistent with the highest traditions of uniformed service.” Mensah was an immigrant from Ghana, an African country notoriously insulted by Trump the other day.

Trump himself never served. He received five deferments during the Vietnam War- some were medically questionable.

As the entire world reverberates from Trump's vicious racist comments, we remember the young 28-year-old Ghanian who gave his life so that four others might live.

"Greater love hath no man than he lay down his life for his friend".

Yes Trump denigrated his sacrifice, but then what do you expect from someone of his background?

I expect him to learn to do better, and be better. Fact is there are many more positive people to be honored, such as this hero originally from Ghana, than there are rapists and criminals who should be rounded up and deported. Is it too much to ask the chief executive of the best country in the world to speak and act responsibly? I would settle for less lying for now.

I mean cancelling the opening of a new embassy in London because Obama built it was a HUGE whopper on many levels, since Obama had nothing to do with it, it was Bushes project for better embassy security, and the fact that he was UNWELCOMED on the soil of our greatest ally in the world. You're right of course Clete, what should we expect of a lying self serving con man?

Forgive him, because he doesn't know what he is doing? I think he knows EXACTLY what he is doing, but I could be wrong!

You know Tal, we once used to refer to the yellow peril, referring to those from s'hole countries to the north, but without effort you have found the orange peril right at home. Are you at risk from all those with corn coloured hair who Trump wants to import from Norway, why would anyone leave Norway, they have a higher per capita income than the US

He won the election, but still isn't that popular Clete, especially in America, and the more he talks/tweets the less popular he becomes. Even those in his own party are considering censuring this Dufus with the dangerous mouth (And fingers). The people around him are as incompetent as he is. He lies better than a rug!

The more I see the less I like, and I am not alone. Election in 10 months so fingers crossed.

All you can do is make him a lame duck, what good is that? You will not have curbed the mouth and the destructive rhetoric, taking away his power base will make him more dangerous

Taking away his power base in 2018 may result in a conviction via impeachment. At best, he is immediately run out of town by nightfall. The worst result is forbidding him to run for any office in 2020. Win-win.

If the shift is big enough to get the numbers, that seems fair

Getting rid of some of The Dufus's sycophants that ignore his incompetence and divisive racially motivated loose use of language can only be a good thing, and helps greatly restore the balances and checks installed in the government by the founders of the constitution.

figures that this non-political posting became another means to trash talk about herr Donald . Yeah I admit that his crude comments made in a private conversation ,that should never had been leaked ,were inappropriate..... (much like LBJ saying
“I'll have those n....ers voting Democratic for 200 years.” ...
or when he told the Greek ambassador,
"f--- your parliament and your constitution." And of course LBJ is one of your heroes ) .

If Trump had asked in a politically correct way why we need so many immigrants from "failed states " instead of "sh.t hole countries ";his point would've been the same . And I'm sure that is exactly the language he would've used if he knew his private conversations were going to be made public.

Note that all this trash talk about Trump ;and allegations that he paid off a porn star comes in the wake of the news that the Emperor's DOJ and FBI illegally used the uncollaborated opposition research "Trump Dossier" to obtain FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign.

It wasn't leaked Tom, it was revealed by the one democrat in the room, corroborated by a REPUBLICAN, Lindsay Graham, and it wasn't private, to ad Jeff Flake has disclosed the facts of what was said at the meeting before it was made public so, and Eric Erickson has spoken to people about Trumps comments were meant for his base. It's not enough to say you aren't a racist, especially with his HISTORY, and it's yet another LIE and con he perpetrates on all you true believers.

No LBJ was not my hero, MLK, JFK, and RFK were back then, and still are.
Trump is hardly the first to use racial division for political gain though, nor was LBJ, but he ha taken it a lot further than any before him.

If Trump had asked in a politically correct way why we need so many immigrants from "failed states " instead of "sh.t hole countries ";his point would've been the same . And I'm sure that is exactly the language he would've used if he knew his private conversations were going to be made public.
We have enough of his public statements and tweets to know his point...he is a racist! A bigot with the power to adversely affect the lives of others based on race. He and his sycophants can deny that all they want. Lets be logical Tom, There are not many immigrants in our history that would meet Trumps "MERIT" qualifications to come to America, not even his own peeps. As for his denouncement of the chain migration issue that angered him when the bi partisan bill outline was proposed to him at that meeting, his peeps are as guilty of that as anybody.

Note that all this trash talk about Trump ;and allegations that he paid off a porn star comes in the wake of the news that the Emperor's DOJ and FBI illegally used the uncollaborated opposition research "Trump Dossier" to obtain FISA warrants to spy on the Trump campaign.

The dossier corroborated what the FBI already had on Trump and was not the only basis for the FISA warrant. As for the women in Trumps life... more will be revealed! Pay attention, the rats are jumping overboard!

I'll bet the king rat isn't jumping overboard. Trump obviously believes he is untouchable.

I wonder, in referring to s@@thole countries was Trump referring to the alternative form of plumbing often favoured by eastern countries? If so, he was absolutely politically correct. Just thinking this might be a first for him

turns out the words he actually used was sh@t house. He was talking about the countries and not the people . But of course everyone knows it . Most of the countries on D@ck Durbin's list are sh@t holes ;mostly because they are run by sh@t heads . Don't let the progressives on this site fool you . There are many parts of this country they consider sh@t holes .....Just like I consider many parts of this country sh@t holes (like that town full of swamp creature sh@t heads ,Washington DC ). My state capitol ;Albany NY ,is one of the biggest cesspools in the world .

The Dufus is the biggest shat head we have ever elected president. There is no excuse for his behavior, or words, which proves the point, and you wingers will never convince anyone but yourselves that he is not trying turning the whole country into a shat hole. I can't believe the issue is over hole, or house. Completely ignores the vulgar reference to people.

Deport the fool to Siberia! Of course he is a product of New York! Your hero no doubt.

I see he has now defined more of these places, like Samoa and Belize because the people overstay their welcome and should not be allowed in in the first place, but the numbers are very small in contrast to the millions of Mexicans he has not referred to at all. I'm waiting for him to call Mexico a sh@thole. I also see parts of California want out of the hispanic seaboard, and are trying to form a new state, good luck with that

the answer is to stop the brain drain from these countries and not allow any migrants from anywhere, Trump has the right idea, build big walls to keep the invaders out, he has plenty of loafers to fill the vacancies already. Put up big we're full signs, they make great walls
