    Replace main breaker in a ge 125 amp outdoor panel
    Can the main breaker in a 125amp ge outdoor panel be replaced with a regular 60 amp double pole breaker?

    Why do you want to reduce its capaicty to less than half its original.

    I agree. Why would you need to?

    Maybe you are using it as a sub-panel and want the main intact? If so the main can be larger than the feeder breaker.

    Either way, explain a bit what you are doing so we can give an accurate answer.

    Ok I have to have a subpanel with a main breaker outside. The lowest amp outdoor panel I could find is a 125 amp ge panel. I only need 2 - twenty amp circuits of power so I don't want to buy bigger wire for 125 amps I would like to know if I can change that 125 amp breaker to a 60 amp and run 6/3 from main panel to subpanel. Basically will the main come out to be replaced with a regular 60 amp double pole breaker

    The 125A breaker is only serving as a disconnect. The breaker in the main panel is your feeder breaker and you wire needs to be sized to that.
    Basically, the sub-panel can be larger than the feeder breaker and wire.

    Ok thanks. And just to confirm the inspector won't have a problem with that.
