Tiny pin sized red itchy dots
I have about 5 or so of this tiny pin sized red dots that itch more than anything I've ever experienced. I found if I leave them alone they'll dry up in about a week or so. But if I dare scratch them they spread into a rash. Any ideas?

Where on your body are they? Do they come in contact with any jewlery? How long have you had them?

I hate to answer questions with questions, but I need a lot of detail. Jut pretend you are at the doctor, but the doctor is blind. Tell me everything you would tell your doc and I can help you better.

The itchy dots are not in any particular location. For instance, right now I have one on my leg, one on my finger, chest and the top of my hand. Previously, I had one on my ankle, etc. I just asked my husband and he seems to have just gotten two also. They're not obvious, you could barely see them. It just seems like you have an uncontrolable itch. Then when you scratch a little tiny red dot seems apparent. I scratched the one on my ankle a lot and it became inflamed and seemed to spread into more than just a little dot. I won't scratch these new ones for sure. But the itch is almost unbearable.

I have no idea where you are, but is it hot there? This may be connected with the heat, similar to a heat rash.

Do you have indoor/outdoor dogs or cats? Is it possoble to have fleas in your area?

It sounds to me like some sort of heat rash or possibly a bug bite of some kind. You can get Benadryl cream which is an antihistimine and will lessen to itching to almost nill.

When you itch as you are describing it is very common for these "dots" to occur. When this happens you are breaking tiny little blood vessels, that is what makes the tiny red dots spread. This is nothing to worry about though.

Just check for local insects and use some Benadry cream, which is good for a heat rash or insect bite.

You can even look at the links above this thread to see if you can identify these dots.

If the dots are in a line then it could possibly be fleas.. you should talk to your doctor

That really sounds like scabies.. If you have them on your hands that's a sign that it could be scabies. Do you have them around your armpits, groin area, or stomach? Scabies tend to be VERY itchy. You should go to a clinic just to get the bumps looked at. They can take a culture (scrap your skin then look at it under a microscope) to see if you have any eggs on you. If you do have scabies, you'll be prescribed a cream most likely. You will also need to wash all your bedding, clothes you've worn the past few days, and vacume. If you don't get it taken care of, they will keep coming back. Scabies die within 72 hours without host contact (human contact). Good luck I hope its not scabies but I've known many people to get it that didn't do anything bad. Its easier to get than people think.

I have these bugs or insects that are invisible almost to the naked eye but when you are in the light of the sun shining, I can run my fingers through my hair on my head or face and I can see them. They look like dandruff almost and some are in spiral form like a piece of lent you would see if shaking out a towel and seeing little particles float in the air.. I tried for now three years to get rid of these, because they bite and live in my clothes, furniture, food, books, computer and everywhere. I fumigated and fumigated use bug spay, threw my furniture away and clothes and bed.. When they die they turn into a tiny pin point brown dot. I moved three times and they follow me, I am going crazy. I went to doctors had biospy from the bites, but they can't determine what it is. I went to veternarians and even brought samples of clothing to Vectur bug control which I think they just tried to look with a naked eye and didn't use a microscope to research. I am going crazy, because I know they exist and have bites to prove it, but it seems no one can figure it out or don't want to investigate thoroughly and think I am crazy.. I can feel them land in my hair on my head, it feels like thousands are there and I brush through my hair and see them in the light, but how can you show a doctor when he thinks it is dandruff or dead skin cells.. I am going to a dermatogist again on Dec.22 and taking samples again,if they don't come up with something to identify this bug or insect. I just may have to kill myself it has gone on for now three years and I can take anymore.. I can't have people over to visit because I am afraid they will inherit them back to there home, I am cautious when I leave my house I don't accidentally touch anybody to spread these things. I can't have a relationship, becaue the bite marks and have to explain I may bugs.. So if anybody has any knoweledge or experiencing this, please help me.. PLEASE..

I have also had brown/red pin sized itchy dots. They get my attention and sometimes i will actual remove it but it is very small to see what it is kind of looks like a grain of sand, dead skin.? My little ones have recently discovered some on there face could pass for a beauty mark or pencil dot on face. I have gone to dermatoligist and he checked for scabies and said he didn't see any 'tracking marks' 'burrows'. So i have no idea all i know is the itching is more frequent at night. I understand the fustration. My guess is you have to actually take pictures of your skin as it changes, to your doctor so you can prove that your not going nuts.

I just returned from a cruise down south and am going through the same thing. I went to emergency yesterday and I have a follow-up appointment in one week with a specialist from infectious disease control at the hosiptal to find out what is going on. I looked at these tiny little things through a microscope and they look like a caterpillar. They hurt when they bite. I can feel them crawl all around my body. I will be glad when this is all over. I don't know how you have lived like this for so long. My husband or three kids never got this so it must not be contagious. Try bathing in Dettol it will kill some of them and use Nix cream all over your body. I will let you know what I find out! Best of luck to you!

Aundry.. And may be it is too late to give you a response.. Hope you are healed now.. otherwise and if you happen to see this, it ll be a good idea.
You might think of getting a clean hair shave.. it would just remove your small white insects.. I know that you won't be appreciated for the look. But it is totally fine as long as you feel comfortable in getting rid of the insects..

And bath twice a day in water mixed with a disinfectant. Apply disinfectant gel all over your body after the bath..
Am sure you will see the improvement soon enuf.

And use turmericpowder paste to rub over those itchy places. It reduces the itchiness and cools you off. It is a wonderful treatment to start with.

Hey guys, I wanted to share my experience with these symptoms because it may be the answer to some of your problems as well. I started getting small red bumps that were very itchy on my legs, stomach and arms. I knew it wasn't fleas because I had experienced that before and at first I thought it might be scabies but after a few days the bumps went away and so I knew it couldn't be that either since scabies doesn't clear up on its own. I started thinking it seemed like it could be some kind of reaction to something I was eating so I thought back to everything I had eaten the week before that I didn't normally eat. The only thing I had that I normally didn't was frosted mini wheats cereal so I looked at the ingredients and found something called BHT. When I did some research on this I found that it is an preservative used in many cosmetics and foods and is thought to be dangerous to consume in large doses. In fact it is apparently banned in most countries other than the US because it is known to cause cancer. To test my theory I tried eating some more of the frosted mini wheats and sure enough I started getting the bumps again. Now I read all of the labels on my food to make sure it doesn't contain BHT. Even if I chew a few pieces of gum (most of which contain BHT) I will get a few itchy bumps shorty after but if I am sure to eliminate BHT from my diet completely I don't experience them at all. The only thing that confuses me is that I used to eat foods with this preservative all the time with no problems but from the research I did I think maybe it was building up in my body and now I get a reaction every time I eat it. I know this may not be the problem for everyone but maybe you should try eliminating it from you food for a while and see what happens. Two other preservatives to avoid are BHA and TBHQ as they seem to give me a similar problem. Even if these don't affect you it is worth researching and possibly avoiding since it seems wrong that it would even be in food in the first place. Hopefully this helps :)

I have found that the only way I can control the itching is to take any brand name 1%hydrocortisone anti-itch cream and rub it into the skin until it almost feels like a burn. It stops the inch very quickly. It does not do away with the problem and any time it returns whether in the same or a different spot I repeat the process. I have not found any way to eliminate the itch but at least I can control & live with it.
Eventually if repeated in the same spot... the skin will feel a little dry and get bumpy but at least the itch won't drive you crazy.

I have been having that to, the thing is is there is way more than five. I can't even count. They itch like crazy and as soon as I scratch one it doesn't stop. They spread up my legs and now are going to my knees. I have them on both legs. The most of them our around my ankles, I am a cheerleader (flyer) and my backs of course hold my ankles but this isn't caused by neither of them. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow, so I will say what I find out.
