Age plays an important factor in the answer of this question.

No. A child is responsible to and must answer to parents as long as he lives under their roof and is in any way supported by them. Parents must know children's comings and goings, and children must keep them informed of their whereabouts.

So you're young yet. Is this really for school or are you trying to convince your parents to let you go out?

And really, to give WG a negative because you didn't like her answer... that is just immature.

Seeing as you're a kid, no, you shouldn't be allowed to go just anywhere... and what is "triedness"?

You aren't going to get an answer like that here as most of us are parents and actually know what is right for you.

Well, instead of letting you go out with your friends I'd make you stay home and do your spelling homework.

If you are doing this for a debate, you have the more difficult part in it if you are trying to convince others that that sort of freedom would be a positive thing. You have various legal aspects that would work against you. You have social norms that would work against you. You have parental expectations that could work against you.

Debating about being able to go out with friends to relax is one thing... debating about being able to go wherever you want to is entirely different.

Tell you what... go out on your own... don't tell anyone... get raped or killed by a criminal or pedophile... or even abducted into the human trafficking sex trade and end up in the middle east being forced to do unmentionable horrors... and nobody will know what happened or have a chance to find you since nobody knows where you went, and with whom or to where.

That is reality in today's world with ever increasing probibility of such an event occurring.

There really is no good reason to argue FOR why a child should be allowed to do it. Good luck in your debate... you have to argue for something that is essentially impossible to justify.

So you expect people to agree with you, even though you've given us no reason to agree?

It doesn't work that way. You asked a question, and you got answers from different points of view. You're allowed your point of view as well, but dictating what answer you want, that's not how debate works.

If you really were saddled with this topic for a debate and are not just trying to convince your parents, I'll try to help.

First your topic is flawed. The biggest problem is the "wherever we want". Your parents have a moral and legal obligation to keep you safe. Therefore they have to decide where you can safely go.

So if you change your topic to: Should teenagers be allowed to spend time with their friends, you might be able to argue that. The argument there is that teens need to have relaxation time, just the same as adults. They also need to experience social interactions. So parents should allow teens to have those experiences as long as they are aware of who the friends are and where they will be going.

But if you are going to argue that a teenager should be given complete freedom, nope that is not going to fly.

In a true debate, ( and I doubt this really is) first the terms of each word has to be defined, so the issue is, what is "everywhere" who defines it, and are there any limits, bars, strip clubs, and then what are friends, people you have known two days, or who.

Then one has to describe the social, economic and culture rules of that society that effects friends, An example a young unmarried female may not be allowed to do many things without an escort by a family member in many cultures.

So in a debate normally the first team up, defines the words and the debate has to follow their defining of the words.

OP has also posted that she is Muslim - I don't know how this enters into the parental control issue OR if this is a question about a Muslim going out... or not.
