    I have not filed for 2005 on through present... what should I do
    I have my w2s for 2005 until present... my income is min.. and prob have a refund coming... except I owe the fed tax people about 6000.00 how do 9i catch up and how do I find out what I owe

    You can still file for 2008 and later years and if due refunds you will get them. But if you owe taxes be prepared to pay interest and (possibly) late filing penalties. For years prior to 2008 it's too late to claim a refund - after three years from the due date for filing you can no longer file for a refund. The due date for filing 2008 taxes was April 2009, so you have until April 2012 to file for a refund for that year.

    In cases like yours, the IRS expects you to go back seven years, even if owe no taxes and you cannot claim the refund.

    So, file the 2008 return first, then go back to 2005 and work your way forward.
