In the 9 hour period since this was posted you should have noticed that your dog needed to go out more to urinate. You may want to keep a gatorade type sports drink on hand since most diuretics will also rid the body of sodium, potassium or both. Make sure she has plenty of water to replenish herself and watch for any signs of reaction such as facial swelling, hives, difficulty breathing, weakness, etc. If you notice that your dog is off or just not right, call your vet.

I would think one pill wouldn't effect him since most pills have to build up in the system for it to do anything... But, I'd follow the advice given above just in case your dog does have a reaction.

Not so, lucky... Lasix, a common and fairly popular diuretic, works quickly, in a matter of an hour, and lasts about 4 hours. I refer to it as p***-quick. But, most diuretics for high blood pressure is a more gently acting, taking 4 to 6 hours to work and lasting about 12 hours.
