I think when we die we go into reincarnation and I don't like rules that I have to follow I would rather have free will and not have someone saying I can't do this or I go to hell and I mean I think we should listen to our consence and if it says not to do something listen I believe that could be the greater power inside of all of us talking and telling us to do right and believe that we all have different ones because no ones consence is the same and I believe in karma too because I have experienced it but I don't really want to run around in the nude and save the environment but I do think we should not kill it either and I do not believe in the devil either but I do want a religion whitch one is right for me?

You may want to make your own up, since all have rules of some sort. So if you don't want to follow some sort of rules.

May want to look at Zen Buddhist but then they have rules also

A few questions:
1. Why do you believe in reincarnation?
2. Do you really believe that people should not have to follow rules they do not like?
3. Does a person's conscience basically equte to God? In other words, should a person always follow the inclinations of his or her conscience?
4. Do you believe you will find a religion which does not have any rules to follow that you might find distasteful? If so, then would you be obliged to follow those rules, even though you don't like them?

Ray, I'm trying to get you to think about what you're writing. There is no such thing as life without guidelines and rules. Any religion will present itself as representing the will of God. If you believe you can pick which ones you will follow, then you elevate yourself above that religion's God and basically make yourself out to be a god.

Free will? So it is OK for a 30 year old to have sex with a 12 year old if they think it is OK ?

It is OK to beat your wife if you think it is OK or you think she deserves it ?

AT what point does your free will start and stop?

What do you want to be able to do with total freedom?

Ray, freewill from a Christian perspective simply means the ability of any person to choose, or reject, the Christian faith. I would imagine that applys to other religious beliefs as well. But once you accept, for instance, the Christian faith, you are not free before God to exercise "free will" in regards to which part of His will you would like to accept or reject. Choices have consequences. I would encourage you to be thankful for the rules which others follow daily, even though it is oftentimes difficult. Think about it.

I can't answer that for you. In my opinion, religion or spirituality is a personal thing. A woman I met a while ago mixes all different forms of religions together. It was her personal reigion and that cool. I don't think that anyone should be made to follow a set of rules because some religion or creed said you had to. Do what feels right for you.

Isn't that what Islamic terrorists do? They do what feels right for them. Somehow I don't agree with that. I would think we would seek to discover the truth and then follow that.

Christianity is NOT a religion! It is a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. When you get to KNOW Him, and understand how much He loves you it is an awesome and powerful thing. God is LOVE. Who doesn't want THAT? It is unconditional and freely given to you.

The problem I think is Christianity has mixed the law with grace and has become a "religion". There are no set "rules". When you come to the Lord Jesus Christ and learn about him, you want to do the things that please him. It isn't a chore. It is freedom. Right believing produces right living.

So my suggestion is this... chuck ALL religion. Go for a relationship. It was Jesus who said this:

Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden light. ( the weary and heavy laden are the people trying to follow a set of Laws that NO ONE can follow perfectly)

God isn't interested in behavior modification (religion) but he is interested in a heart transformation!

Ray - Fr_Chuck was spot on with you. You may want to make up your own, since that is what you are trying to do anyway. Freewill is simply the ability to make your own choices... it is either good or bad. Every religion is going to have it's own set up guidelines or regulations... which is what makes it that certain religion. I'm with ClassyT, however, Christianity is not a religion... I think it was put in that category to be politically correct ;)

Your post says you want to practice a religion... whether that is Christianity or not, practicing a religion INVOLVES following it's guidelines.
