The flavor of eggnog improves when it is made a day ahead, to allow the alcohol to "mellow", The favorites to add are, of course Rum, the best is Amber Rum, cause of it's sweetness. also sherry, brandy or kahula. 8 oz cognac, 16 oz cream, 6 whole eggs, 8 oz rum, 8 oz sugar---Seperate egg, in lg bowl beat egg yolks, sugar, rum, cognac, milk and cream till smooth. Serve in highball glasses and garnish with nutmeg (serves 4) :D
