How to Fade Dyed Dark Hair?
Im naturally a very fair, light brown colour hair and I died it black about 3 months ago but because my hair is so long I used two hair dyes to cover it. Unfortunately it didn't and the ends of my hair stayed the same light colour.

Now my roots are coming through so I have light roots and light ends of my hair and the rest is black, but with red because of the fading. I wondered if anybody knows how I can speed up this process. Because my hair is so long I don't want to leave it to just grow out it needs to fade.

Im currently using vosene shampoo and it doesn't seem to be working as of yet does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks a lot

Hiya. Sorry to hear about your hair, but the only ways I know of to fade hair is constantly washing it. It is also said that hairspray fades hair. Another way is to wash your hair with shampoo mixed in with some baking soda which apparently works. I wouldn't use it though unless you're 100% sure what colour that it will turn out, in some cases an orangey colour. Good Luck x

I recently died my hair from blonde to a darker/brown blonde. My natural color is a dark brown so my stylist added a lot of my natural color into my highlight. Needless to say it looks black, but everyone says its brown. Brown or black I don't like it. I'm not sure I want to go back to my stylist because I'm afraid more bleach will damage my hair. Everyone is talking about using Prell, will that really lighten up my dark strands. Any advice?

Prell will not lighten your dark strands, however, it the fade it slightly. If the Prell doesn't work, use a clarifying shampoo. Carifying shampoos can strip or fade hair color faster.

Permanent color can and make the hair a couple of shades lighter. However, it can turn your hair a reddish tone, especially if your hair is dark. If you want to go more than 3 shades lighter, you will need to do a double process (bleaching and toning). You should consider going back to the salon and have the hairstylist do a corrective color close the original color.

Hi all, my goal was to have brown hair with light brown highlights.. dyed my hair brown myself, then a week later went to the salon for highlights. Their highlights didn't work, and they put wayy too many, so they ended up just putting bleach over them, and I walked out with orange hair
The next day I dyed it brown, which faded back to orange pretty quickly because I guess it wasn't dark enough. After all that suffering I've been deep conditioning my hair; its been a week, and today I dyed my hair natural brown... which turned out jet black!
I tried washing it with shampoo lots, but here we don't have dawn, purell, and I can't get out to buy head and shoulders...
I was wondering, would regular dishwashing soap work? My hair is really fragile right now, but I can't stand the color! If I leave deep conditioner on for a couple hours would that help too? Thanks in advance

Ayayay. I just dyed my hair black underneath and it looks way too gothic. I'm trying lots of ways to get it out. I've used washing liquid, which actually worked a tiny bit along with heated up olive oil. The best way, is to wash it often and letting the shampoo settle in. It's a pain, but with time it will fade, and it will grow out. So don't worry folks!

Hey, I've Had A Diaster With My Hair Too!...It Was Dark Brown But I Dyed It Black By Accident, Its A Permanent Colour Soo I've Been Leaving "Head And Shoulders" On My Hair For Hours While I'm Sitting In The House! Apparently Whatever's In This Shampoo To Take Away Dandruff Does The Same To Take Away Colour From Hair!
It Does Work, But Don't Expect Your Hair To The Colour U Want After One Day! Unfortuneatly, It Takes Patience=(
Neweys, Good Luck Everyone With The Same Problem As Me!! I Hope To Be Blonde For My Holidays In August! LOL.X

Okay I need your help! I did the same thing, my hair turned out blackk! (well acculy its dark brown, but it looks like almost black) so anyway... my mom is going to get prell shampoo today and I will try that later today... butt how long did you leave the head and shoulders shampoo in for?? And how long did it take for your dark colour to fade once you started using head and shoulders?? Pleeeeeeaseee help me, I have to go to school soon, and I need help.. it doesn't look that bad when I have my hair up, but I don't want to leave my hair up for 4 weeks while the colour fades on its own, I'd rather just hurry the procces to like 1-2 weeks, if that's AT ALL possible! So please help anyone..! Please

After dying my hair brown (came out DARKER brown... almost black)
I left faity liquid on my hair OVERNIGHT
Which lifted the colour about 3 shades! I've gone from almost black to medium golden brown
I also wash with vosene anti dandruff
