It looks like a honeycomb, but it is actually the stomach of the animal. Beef tripe is the first three stomaches of the cow. Unfortunately some people use it for food. They claim it is delicous. Some wal-marts actually sell it in the north you may need to go to a speciality meet store

Agrees that Wal-Mart sells Tripe - have seen it there and could not believe it at first. But some do eat it. Tripe even has it's own website:

I feed tripe to my dogs. I boil it for 20 - 30 minutes. I find that it is very good for their haircoat. One of my dogs had an allergic reaction to flea bites and he scratched so much he had a huge bald spot on his back. The stuff the vet gave me did not work, I used it for a few weeks with zero changes. I fed him a small amount of tripe everyday for a week and his hair began growing back and he was very soft. I've seen all my dogs fur get softer and shinier when they eat tripe for a week or more. I would never eat it myself.

Don't eat it, it doesn't taste good. Also don't eat tongue unless you have to. Ah the joys of elderly relatives.

Well, I agree that it is found in wal-mart, and is from bovines, and probably wouldn't taste to well. And I guess feeding it to your dog would be o.k. but I am curious, why the interest in tripe? Is it something you heard about, or saw for sell somewhere, or were you going to try it? I know of people whom eat tripe and they say it is good. But it just isn't for me. I hope that you find what you are looking for. And if you try it , perhaps you can come back and let us know what you think of tripe.

Any Real Asian restaurant's menu would have tripe, it usually cook together with cow tongue or/and tendon( especial bull penis), they would be seasoned with ginger and star anise. Sometimes they would add harden pig blood.. these items are not the cheapest on the menu

Hi, I guess I am one of the few of MILLIONS that actually enjoy eating tripe. Tripe has to be boiled for hours before it can actually be pretty tasty and soft to eat. It is popular in various stews like SOPA De MONDONGO in central american and Caribbean countries. Poor quality tripe is usually fed to dogs. In many cultures, eating pork may be seen as repulsive. Other countries eating roasted grubs is a norm. Please stop making such mundane and naïve comments that I have read here. Live, learn and try it for yourself prior to making such opinions.
