most insects don't have ears but have a typanal system

Spiders and some catarpillars, and cockroaches detect nearby sound through hairs on their legs

I don't think there is a name for that. As Capuchin and NauticalStar noted, lots of animals can hear but don't have obvious external ears. Animals that live underground, too...
