Settle and work in France

Hi,

I am into software industry since 1.5 years and I intend to settle in France. I have the following queries:
1)I would like to know the oppurtunities I can get in the software field and also what needs to be done to get a permanent visa to France?
2)Do I need to learn french?
3)I am aware that I can get a citizenship only after a stay of 5 years. But to continue till 5 years what sort of visa do I need to go for?
4)I don't intend to get a visa to marry a french citizen, it's purely job basis. So do I have to try to get a job from my country here, so that I get an invitation from a french based company and then only I can proceed? Or are there some other alternatives,which I can take up?
