WHY can't you tell you're pregnant until 5 days b4 missed period?

Someone please help! I need this answer ASAP! Why can't you tell you're pregnant until 5 days before you're missed period? I mean you get pregnant upon conception but then can't really tell until 2 or 3 weeks later. I need a medical answer. Thankyouuuuu!

You can't really tell until about the day your period is due, and it's because the hormone (pregnancy hormone) that the tests are looking for don't get high enough in your urine to show on the test until then.

I had unprotected sex twice. Once on June 24th and then again on June 29th. I got my period on July 6th. Could I be pregnant?
