My period will get over on 10th may......when can i have sex after that without getting pregnant??

if you are on your period now, and it ends on the 10th, you will be fertile between may 14th-19th. and your ovulating on the 17th. so you are okay right now during your period. (this is only accurate if your cycle falls exactly every 28 days "standard")
so what i am saying, is that you are not fertile or ovulating during your period. its between periods that you ovulate. and then when you have your period, this is your bodies way of "flushing" out the "dead" or unused eggs.

I have to disagree with puppylove, you can be fertile during your period, every womans body is different, there is NEVER as "safe" time to have unprotected sex, unless you know for sure when you are ovulating.

How old are you? Are you using birth control? If so, what kind? Are you aware that even birth control is not 100% effective against pregnancy?

Bottom line, if you are having sex then you should be ready to face the possible consequences, if you aren't, then you are not ready to have sex.

yes, ALTENWEG is correct. i must clarify that my first response is only accurate in the situation that you are exactly, to the date, a 28 day cycler. if your period starts a day or 2 away each month then the ovulation day will change, but the most important thing i didnt mension, is that you can and most likely WILL get pregnant on days you are NOT having a period at all. but please take seriously the message that ALTENWEG has written. you should be sure to get on an effective birth control method.... fast! don't take the chance if your not ready to become a mother for 18 YEARS! good luck, any other questions, we're glad to help you with

And then you have to throw into the mix that even with very regular cycles, some women will not follow the norm. Even when someone does ovulate midcycle on a regular basis, it can happen that in any given cycle they may ovulate sooner or later than their own norm. Hence, there are times that may be "safer" than others, but there is no 100% safe time to avoid pregnancy. Knowing your body well can increase your odds of either avoiding a pregnancy or achieving a pregnancy.
