Unusually heavy period with large blood clots (many of them)

I am experiencing an extremely heavy period with a lot of large blood clots (almost looks like pieces of liver) . I know that sounds gross but I am concerned because I also have a lot of abdominal pain and an it also feels like my insides are pushing against my rectum. I feel like i did just after I gave birth. I didn't think I was pregnant ; because I just took a pregnancy test last week and it was negative. My periods only come every 2-3 months which has always been normal for me and I always have a light, almost non existent flow. I feel like I may be having a miscarriage with the size of the clots.

I just called and they said oh, it's normal when your in your 30's for your periods to change...just wait a couple of months to see. I explained everything to her. I guess I have to be more demanding. Thanks for your response.

yes. if you're concerned enough to come here and ask, its clearly unusual for you. and yeah, it is normal for your periods to change, not just in your 30s, but generally throughout your life. but the pain you'e described combined with the large clots you're describing, they need to see you. maybe it's nothing. but always better safe than sorry. i'd call back and insist on being seen.
