Is there a way I can reduce or get rid of my period?

Asked Apr 11, 2012, 04:32 PM — 10 Answers
I want a way if there is one to reduce or totally get rid of my period. I know it's pointless to me I mean I'm still and school and looking at. Colleges I don't want a kid- No, No, No. I just want to get rid of it. I'm on an expense and it's a pain in the ( pardon my French ) ***! Is there any way?

There are some birth control pills such as Seasoneaque that will give you a period once every three months. The depo provera shot also stops periods in some women, but others tend to bleed a lot.

Ah, 13 is part of your "name," so I wondered about that.

Even if a doctor would be willing to remove your ovaries and uterus (and in the olden days, a woman had to have had at least one child before that would be done), you would then be on a number of drugs for the rest of your life and be subject to early aging and all the associated diseases including arthritis, hair loss, wrinkles, muscle loss, etc. Our site nurse could fill in with more specific information. ***ADDED*** Yay! Our site nurse is here

If the bleeding increases to a lot then depo provera isn't for you and you would have to find another method. As far as what the chances are, that I can't tell you. It's a trial and error sort of thing.

There are laws that prevent this at this time for anything other than cancer or organ illness at this OPs age.
