Should I go to a Doctor?

Asked Mar 21, 2007, 06:16 PM — 3 Answers
Hi,

I have been on the pill now for about a year, about a month ago I missed approx 3-4 active pills. I wasn't engaging in any sexual activity at the time so I know I can't be pregnant however about a week later I started bleeding and have been now for a month.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how I can make it stop? It is a real inconvenience.

Thanks

Yes, you should go to the doctor to make sure everything is okay. When you miss pills your whole system gets out of wack, so it maybe just that. I would still go to the doc just to be safe.

My sister had this happen. She was irregular because the birth control had messed up her body's normal cycle. Some people are more sensitive to these meds than others. She had to stop the pill for a while, and she went back to normal. I would still go to the doc just to make sure its ok. FYI, they always mention to you that this could be a symptom of cervical cancer. My sister was worried sick for a week until her tests came back normal. If they tell you that, don't worry. It's a possible cause, but in most cases its just the birth control. So, don't worry like she did. Most likely you will return to normal after stopping birth control for a while.
God Bless You!
