I have had my menstrual cycle to occur almost every 28 days, then around every 25 days, now it has gone to the 20th day. My last cycle started around 25 days, but Friday my cycle started again. I saw my OB one week after my last cycle which was the 30th of April. He told me that I was ovaluating and should have my period around 2 to 3 weeks from then. I just got it again 20 days later. I am 33 years old.

Has anyone had this problem before? Also, I had some minor pain on the left side that came and went. I've also told him about this too. The pain did not stay very long, felt like a burning pain for a few seconds then left. I had an ectopic pregnant back last fall on the same side. They saw earlier a cyst. But when I saw him a few weeks ago, he checked and there was nothing.

My questions:

Has anyone had this experience before?
Can a cyst or something get inflammed during a cycle and then die off afterwards?
Any advice?

I was told that a "normal" cycle can range from 19 - 35 days. So, what you are experiencing is in the normal range. I am also 33 and my cycle is starting to change like this. My dr. recommended charting it for a year and then bring in the chart to the next appointment.
Cyst can come and go. I have had one rupture and it can be painful - I was told to just take tylenol - the pain was from the fluid entering my system.
I also have painful ovulation some months. All of this is explained to me as being normal.
So, you were ovulating in the dr.'s office and he said 2 - 3 weeks you would get your period. 20 days later you did. So that is about what he predicted.
If your doctor isn't worried - I wouldn't be either.

Thanks for your quick reply and information. I appreciate it. I guess I am concerned that it has switched several times. I also got concerned because of known family cysts and female problems. :)

I know it can be frustrating. I make lists of questions for my doctor - so afraid something isn't right. She assures me that everything is fine. I went from a straight 28 days (you could set your watch to it) to a couple of days late this month, then a couple of days early the next. It drives me crazy!
I totally see why you are concerned.

Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem, in June I got my period in 20days, last month was normal and this month again I got my period in 20 days and I've been experiencing pain in left corner on & off. I'm 37 yrs old and have no kids, can anyone please why is this happening

Wow I just experienced the same thing.. used to be every 27-28 days, now last two cycles were about 20 -21 days.. I am 39 w/o children as well.

I experiencecd the same thing too. I was every 28-32 days forever. And now for the last 6 months I am to 25 days. Its strange! I'm 37 and no kids.

I'm 37 years old and my period is coming irregular now.I never had problems in the past with cramps .
Last year the doctor told me I had a small subserosal fibroid.But the fibroid is gone now I have no cramps no headaches I feel fine but the problem is that my last period came irregular on the day 28 the next 25 and now on day 20 so I was a bit concern.I put some castor oil pack for 2 hours every night the last 5 days and I don't know if the castor oil brought early my period.I also taking maca root for fertility.
