hello i have a 11 1/2 month old baby and only had 2 periods since i had her, i went straight back on birth control after i had her and come off after 2 months as me and ny partner wanted to try for baby number 2! ever since coming off the pill i havent had a period. we have been to the doctors on many occasions who diagnosed an underactive thyroid and put me on medication but now all my hormones are normal again. he sent me for a scan on my ovaries and the test showed there was nothing wrong but he doesnt no why i am not having periods and it is really confusing as the only thing i want is to be pregnant again. he has ruled out pcos and the next thing on the cards is my partner has to do a semen sample if that comes back fine then he is going to send us to the fertility clinic.
has anybody got any ideas on why my periods have stopped and can you still get pregnant without having periods? how do i know if i am still ovulating any help would be appreciated

hello everyone it has been a few weeks since i posted my question just wanted to ask a few more things
yesterday i went shopping and had a really bad pain it felt like something like exploded inside me and i just felt like i had to get home fast, this was at about 2pm, then on the night time i went to the toilet and was bleeding. since the bleeding it stopped straight away and still no more bleeding today, i just wanted peoples opinions on what they thing it could be. could it be a sighting of my period coming back after nearly a yr? maybe a miscarriage? any help would be greatly appreciated!

perhaps ur body is under stress, and hasnt resumed its normal pattern as yet?! have u been to the doctor about this ?

sorry just realised that you have consulted ur doctor and u said he had ruled out pcos? have u had an internal ultra sound scan to show this ? have u gained or lost excess weight.? if so that may affect the hormones and stop you from having periods? if you have gained weight would be advisable to take up exercise and then your periods will become more regular. do u have anything that could be quite stessful going on? sorry im not much help

no not under any stress i havent gained or lost any weight i just want to know what that bleeding could have been its really strange cause i havent had any bleeding since but have pelvic pain!!

ok. it could be an infection or something? did u have a c section or natural birth? have u recently tried a pregnancy test ?

i had a natural birth my baby is now 1 yr old and i did do a pregnancy test on thursday but was negative!!

its hard, to rule out anything? perhaps u should go back to the doctor or consult the health visitor if this pain is really worrying you? have u had any pains like this since that one episode? pelvic pain could be associate with pain in the uterus(whilst menstrating) a uti infection in the bladder or even bowels. have u been tested for any infections? or stis? just to rule it out? if your worried and you feel not happy seek a second opinion from a doctor or see if u can get referred to a gynaecologist who can help with this specialist area of care .

been with my partner over 2 yrs and havent got any STIs had tests done 4 weeks ago and have no infection it does feel like period pain but it has been so long since i had a period i have forgotten what it feels like! my doctor wont do anything about my absent periods until i have actually missed 12periods. this is my 4th doctor as all the others i have used didnt want to help me i am going to phone him tomoorow and ask for a telephone consultation to see what he says. is there a possibility it could be my period coming back? oh and what is inplantation bleeding?

did you breast feed after having your child? Breastfeeding will delay a period. But coming on and off the pills will also mess with your cycle. many women become irregular. esp after a baby. Your hormones are out of whack as it is and then you add and then remove more hormones. Implantation bleeding is very rare and is typically normal discharge laced with blood. How long have you and your husband been trying?
