Missed menstruation? Or " PRE MENSTRUATION?

My Girlfriend missed her menstruation and I'm so confused because the day before she missed her menstruation she saw blood in her underwear. So she thought it was her 1st day already. Then, the day after , her menstruation suddenly stopped . So we considered it was just " pre mens " if there is such a word. It has been 7 days already and still she did not mentstruate.

Is that possible?

This is called spotting. She could be. Is she on birth control? Sometimes this is the cause. If she isn't, sometimes that is the cause. Please offer more information.

No, forget the word "pre mens"

Spotting is common and can be due to several reasons.

That can happen all the time with stress or changes in lifestyle (exercise, diet, etc.). So typically that's just spotting. It's not abnormal
