Menstruation after miscarriage

I suffered a miscarriage about six weeks ago. I did not need a D&C and I had a complete miscarriage at home. I had bleeding for about two weeks and six days after the bleeding stopped, I started taking the birth control pill. After a discussion with my doctor, I decided to take my birth control pills back to back (meaning not taking the usual 7 day break and therefore supressing menstruation all together) I am taking Marvelon and I have been taking them for almost four weeks. I thought everything was going fine, I take the pills at the same time everyday and have never missed a pill. Today I woke up with cramps and bleeding! The bleeding is like a normal period but I have had several small blood clots which I dont have when I have a normal period. The cramps are a little worse than normal as well. Why would I get my period now? Should I worry about the blood clots? My doctor did not do an ultrasound after my miscarriage at 7 weeks and told me it was complete since the bleeding stopped. I am concerned, do you think my body has to get use to the birth control pill before I can supress menstruation?
Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it.

This could be something called breakthrough bleeding, however, whenever there is unusual bleeding you should contact your doctor.

Please make an appointment to be sure that there is nothing else going on.

i also had a miscarriage. and my periods were never the same. they are getting better but it seemed as i bleed alot. it does sound like breakthrough bleeding to me too. you should call you Dr. and let him/ her know whats going on too. i didnt have to have a d&c either. i have the hole thing(dead fetus) come out.

good luck to you.
