Long heavy period with large blood clots

I just started my period today and it is so heavy. I am also having these really big blood clots? I mean really big? Last month I had the same problem and my period lasted two weeks. Can someone hepl me out with what could be wrong?

First I need to ask you some questions...
1. Do you have regular menstrual cycles?
2. Are you on any medications, like birth control, or blood thinners?
3. How old are you?
4. Have you ever been diagnosed with, or suspect you have polycystic ovarian syndrome?

I'm guessing that the endrometrium is overbuilt and coming out, which is a good thing. If your periods are heavy and lasting longer than a week and a half, than I'd suggest seeing a Gyn, though. Once I had endrometrial hypoplasia, and a 83 day straight period! I finally had to have a D & C to remove the lining. Thank God it wasn't cancerous.

Take over the counter iron pills, and eat dark green leafy vegetables to keep your iron levels up.
