Irregular, Long Periods.

Hey,
Im 16, sexually active and have been off birth control for about 2 months.. I have been having unprotected sex, but am not pregnant as i have tested myself. I have always had regular periods until i went on the depo and i had bleeding, and now that im off it im getting period every 2 weeks lasting from either a week, to 2 weeks.. light-heavy.. it changes.
I just want an idea of what to expect when i see a doctor and what could possibly be wrong.

Firstly, at 16 you should be responsible enough not to indulge in unprotected sex. Testing yourself to check if you're pregnant is simply not good enough. You should be using condoms until you decide on a more permanent form of contraception.

Secondly, depo-provera can seriously mess with the lining of your uterus, hence the long irregular bleeding. Irregular, heavy or no bleeding at all are common side effects.

Your doctor will be able to advise you in much more detail.
