Heavy periods after miscarriage

I had a miscarriage in May of this year (2006), I tried to let nature take its course however, I had to be admitted to hospital because the bleeding was very heavy (soaking a sanitary pad in less than hour) and I eventually had to have a D & C, whilst doing the D & C they found a cyst and took a biopsy which thankfully came back with no abnormalities. Unfortunately the surgeon did not get all of the products of conception out during the D & C and had a lot of pain when I got home from hospital and I eventually passed another clot at home with lots of gungy blood - not pleasant! The bleeding stopped very soon after this. I then had my first period 27 days later which was very heavy and I was passing clots much like when I was miscarrying. I have now got my 2nd period (30 days since last one) and it is much the same again, very heavy bleeding, cramping and passing tissue and clots. Is this normal? The whole thing reminds me of my miscarriage and I find the time during periods quite difficult to cope with emotionally.

It is time to go to another doctor for an opinion. This is quite abnormal, a D&C should help lighten periods, not make them worse.

Have you ever been diagnosed with endometriosis? It sounds as though this is what is going on.

Time to seek an opinion from a different doctor this time.
