i have been having period for a month? have no idea why?

i am 18 and always had regular periods i have been on birth control for 4 years now. and i have been on my period for a month now i have been having like a regular period with tons of cramping, i'm really worried and have no idea what is going on, please help me. : (

Well when you find out the answer to this please let me know because I've been having the same problem & been to the doctors & have had several tests done & nothing is coming up abnormal except my abnormal period. I am on no birth control (had tubal ligation in 2005).

Go and see a doctor. It could be anything.

Any unusual or prolonged bleeding should always be diagnosed by a doctor! Forums like this generally cannot provide specific answers to this sort of problem. Doctors can.

i went to the doctor and they just put me on a new birth control. it doesn't seem to be getting any better though.
