    Donating plasma & menstrual cycle
My period stops when I donate plasma on a regular basis, which is usually twice a week. I am 45 and the first time it stopped I thought it was a coincidence starting the menopause thing at the same time I started donating. But I quit donating for a couple of months and I had 2 periods. I just started donating regularly again and I didn't have a period this month. Is that a bad thing for my body?

I think it could be that you are starting to go through menopause, and that is the reason your period stopped. Donating plasma 2x a week for a healthy person is fine, but it is still recommended that after every few months, you take a month off from donating. Maybe you should cut back on the frequency of donating plasma, or next time you go in, mention your concerns to the phlebotomist. I think it's a great think that you're helping people out through your donations, just make sure to put your health concerns first ;).

I totally agree with this.. most woman begin menopause around 40 or even earlier.. and from what you are saying those are signs of menopause. And donating plasma at your age... YOU ROCK!

I do NOT know where you get your information- you must be very young and inexperienced. MOST women DO not start menopause at 40!! That is actually early for most women. In addition, your comment about donating at your age was
Ridiculous. 40 is not old. Grow up.

Im 30 and have been donating twice a week for 3 weeks now, I got my period and it was just very light spotting. This has never happened to me in the 18 years that I've been getting my period as I'm usually a super heavy bleeder. I think it's more than a coincidence that this started happening after I started donating. Next month I probably won't even spot, I'm going to ask my doctor about this.

That is a wise course of action. They'll get to the bottom of this.

Hello, I've been donating plasma for 3 years and now my left arm is starting to become numb if I lean on it too long. I'm not having problems with my other arm which may be because I only donate with my left arm. My question is... is my left arm becoming numb because of the donating?
