cold turkey

Oh hello again, for those of you who have seen my other posts!

Ok so, it's finally happening... My semester finally ended and i am home. The last three weeks of school i hardly had any work to do and wanted to live it up with my friends. Therefore i was drinking every nite and smoking pot and ciggs. It seemed great at the time, but now i am home and i am not allowed to drink or smoke at home. I dont have anyone to do it with here for 1 and 2, my parents would flip! My mom found my lighter and freaked out saying she hoped i haven't been smoking. anyway, since i am home i feel different. i can't sleep at night an when i do sleep i get these crazy images and feel paralyzed. This makes me so nervous and is so scray when i am trying to sleep. I feel like i am tripping out or soemthing. is it bc of withdrawl or is it something else?

When i wake up in the morning i have a huge headache like id been drinking all nite. i can't get my day started i lay in bed till noon and cant get motivated to get up! things are all seeming strange for me. i really hope this goes away with a week or 2 without drinking or ciggs.... you think it will?

thank you all!
-justme

The not sleeping is probably a result of stopping the pot. That is a common side effect, it is a powerful sleep aid and your body misses it when you stop.

It does get better over time.

You may have also noticed that pot will prevent you from having knowledge of dreaming.
Not that you don't dream, the pot just blocks the dreams from being remembered or of you even being aware of them. I think the crazy images are just dreams that you have not been aware of for some time.

Just do your best to hang in there, the longer you go without, the better you will start to feel. Just keep telling yourself how much better off you will be without those things to cloud your head and your life.

Best wishes!

Do you think maybe you have an addiction to these things?.. There are usually underlining reasons why people need substances to get through the day..

Try going to an AA meeting one time, it might just work for you. my boyfriend is 3 years sober and AA saved his life.. good luck!

In dealing with addictions there are things that are way beyond our control, it's hard to just say i'll do it on my own.. things you have to work out in your head before you can get better.. but it has to be when you're ready..

Everyone has issues.. there is not one person who wouldn't benefit from The 12 Steps program.. we all have baggage and hurts and pains in life, and sometimes people use substances to hide from their problems.. im not saying that's you because i dont know you, but with most people from AA that was the case..

my issues...i have really bad anxiety.. the 12 steps can really help me get to the root and help me move on
