Can I Get Pregnant Being Off Depo Since May?
I have a question, I had a boyfriend about 5 months ago, and we were dating for about 2 months and we had unprotected intercourse and I never got Pregnant but I was on the Depo- Provera shot for about 3 years. And I stopped getting the injections in May of last year. Now I am dating another person and when we have sex. He doesn't use any kind of protection and comes inside of me, since I have been off Depo Provera since May and I haven't gotten my period in 3 years, can I still get pregnant?? I am sooo confused! Please help me out with some answers:confused:

You should be using something to protect yourself from std's,aids, hep and you should no that. The amount of time that it takes for your cycle to return will vary based on numerous factors. Some of these include, how long you were on the shot, how heavy your cycles were to beging with, your weight change, etc. One thing that we often forget is that if you have your last shot in January, then the shot will continue working as scheduled until your next shot would be due. Therefore, you didn't 'go off' the shot in January, you stopped taking it when your next scheduled shot would have been, which would be April. Your count should begin in April.

I've known many, many women, and participated in past studies. If you want to be able to have children immediately upon stopping your birth control method, then you should stick to the pill. Depo provera is for long term birth control use and anyone considering using it should be made aware by their doctor, that it will take time for it to completely leave your body and for your cycles to return to normal.

The average time to return to a normal period is 6-24 months. Usually, the longer you've been on depo, the longer it will take for your cycle to return. However, if you are concerned, please see your doctor or a fertility specialist who may be able to help you begin your cycles (usually through the use of a DNC).

That's from wikiawnsers I hope it helps you

Yes you can get pregnant since you aren't on the depo shot anymore you can get pregnant from being off the shot for just one day... It's not likely but it can happen. I took the depo shot for over three years and didn't get my period for the whole three years. I stopped taking the shot and always had unprotected sex with my husband for another three more years and didn't get pregnant until the end of the three years off the shot... But that's not the case for everyone because everyone's body is different. You should get on the shot or have protected sex or you could get pregnant. And you will get your period back it just might take a while. It took me one year to get my period back. If you don't plan on having a baby soon I'd go back on the shot.

I think the best thing for you to do would be to see your doctor and discuss the depo shot, the changes it can cause in your body, and birth control for you. If you don't want to go back on the shot, there are other options out there. Here is a link about depo:

    http://www.metrokc.gov/health/fampla...o-brochure.pdf.

It takes a while to load, but has some good info.

It states that although some women can get pregnant right away after stopping depo, for others, it may take from 3 to 18 months before you can conceive. It also says that when you stop depo, you should start using protection right away if you don't want to become pregnant. If you aren't able to go see the doctor right now, you could talk to the school nurse and she can give you some information about the shot and pregnancy/birth control. Anytime you have unprotected sex, you should get tested for STDs because some have no symptoms at first, and by the time you know you have it, damage is done. Make sure to get those yearly pap tests too, that's so important.

No, I don't think I can talk to my mom and I don't have a sister the closest I can talk to is a friend, I'v already did tell like one friend who made me feel a bit better but I don't feel comfortable talking to any other friends or anyone else close and they wouldn't understand they'll just make me feel even worse

You are 15 years old. Still in high school. You need to be on something! Anything! Protect yourself from std's and pregnancy. Your so young. And I can say this because my sis got pregnant at 15 and I had my daughter at 18. U really really should be looking into some type of prevention especially if you have multiple partners. Be very careful.
