I would be very grateful if anyone could give me some advise? I came of the contreceptive pill about 8 months ago.
My period started on may 18th and ended may 21st.
On day about 14 of my cycle, while wiping myself after going for a wee, i noticed a bit of brown blood on the tissue. As the day went on the blood became almost like a black sticky streaky tar like substance. The following day, the same was happening, it almost looks like little black streaky clots. By the way, this blood loss on both days is very minimal, and its actually only seen when i wipe myself, but i have had few dark streaks in my underwear. I have a couple of times before, spotted half way through my cycle, but the blood has never been this dark, and tar like mucus???
I went too see my doctor, she took a couple of swabs, to makesure that i had no infection. The results came back fine.
My smear tests are all up to date, and are all also fine.
I have no symptoms, apart from a very slight abdominal pain, which i am probably bringing that on myself, because of the constant worrying ang stressing that i always do!

those are blood clots...perfectly normal towards the end of your cycle...nothing to worry about unless you are seeing large amounts then you might need to use another form of birth control...

The only other thing that concerns me is if you are aborting.

I was going to ask if there was a chance you could have been pregnant..

have your periods for the last 8 months been somewhat normal, other than this? The reason I ask is that sometimes coming off of hormones can cause our bodies to do strange things.

Hi, yes my periods have been normal other than this.
I was on the pill for 10 years, so perhaps my body is just adapting back to normanity, but i would of thought by now, after 8 months, i would of been back as normal by now??
Someone suggested to me that it could be ovulation bleeding???
Im even more confused now!

I have heard of "ovulation Bleeding" and that it has something to do with a drop in your estrogen levels, and I know that it only lasts around 2 days...but other than that, I dont know a lot. It can take up to 12 months, for the actual effects of the hormones in pills to wear off. And then also, sometimes you just get an off period, one that is just strange.

But since you mentioned it happens only every so often, I would guess it could be that ovulation bleeding, skipped my mind before.

If you feel there is any possibility of pregnancy I would suggest taking a HPT as it may also be what is known as "Implantation Bleeding" Good Luck.
