Breast Pain

I have been on Depo-Ralovera for 7 years, 2 months ago the doctor took me off the injections because my bone density test came back abnormal, which was a little concerning but now that i have come off the injections my breasts are really sore and feel almost swollen, they feel as though they are full of milk as if i need to breast feed. It is so painful to the stage that wearing a bra is sore, if anyone has a possible answer i would really appreicate it.
Thanks Suzie

Hello Suzie,

Breast pain is a common breast problem mostly in younger women who are still having their periods. My breasts gets tender during each menstrual cycle, which is normal. However, some women can experience pain and swelling in their breast due to the changes in their hormone levels or in medications they are taking. Stress can also affect breast pain. And what you have described sounds like Mastalgia and Mastitis. It takes place in the parenchymal tissue and causes swelling of the parenchymal tissue outside the milk ducts. This swelling compresses on the milk ducts, and the result is pain and swelling of the breasts.

If your breast pain continues for a long time or keeps coming back, it's probably a good idea to talk to your health care provider. Don't be afraid to go see your doctor, he or she will examine you to see what's causing the pain.
