bleeding for 5 weeks?

Hi All!
I am 29, have two children ages 4 and 2 and had a miscarriage in early August.
I had an almost normal cycle after, then my second cycle I spotted a little bit, now my third cycle I've been bleeding/spotting for the past 5 weeks!!
My doctor says it's just mixed up hormones from the miscarriage and she put me on birth control pills to regulate me. I am on my third week of those, and there has been no changes....still bleeding. I spoke to my doctor yesterday and she told me that I should finish out this pack of pills and start a second one, that it may take two months to get my wacky hormones under control.
How do I know if this is just a hormone thing or if it isn't something more serious?
I am starting to get worried, not to mention very annoyed by this.
Please help me!

It's probably just your cycle, your doctor knows best most of the time. If you're really worried, go see another doctor. I hope it gets back on track soon.

I agree with Charlotte. You can, however, have a blood test done to check your hormone levels.

I agree with the above. It can be very frustrating! I hope things regulate soon.
