serious ipod technical skills needed

hello... anyone who can help me

i recently lent my ipod to one of my buddy's (20G ipod photo) and he kept playing with the hold button at the top of the ipod and after a few times it got stuck.. now i can still put the hold button on and turn it off, but it is permanently jammed INSIDE the ipod and set to hold so i cannot access my ipod because it does not feel my finger when i apply pressure on the ipod wheel browser... is there a way i can undo it so that i can use my ipod without having to visit an ipod repair shop?
maybe a way i would be able to undo it on itunes or on my computer??

if so, i'd like to hear from anyone..
any help provided will be appreciated
thank you!
