window Xo restarts itself

i am using win98 and win xp together.
win98 on C drive and win xp on D drive.
for few days when i open win xp it starts and then computer closes and restarts automatically.
This time it says that the computer was not closed properly and option of safe mode, start previous configuration and start window normally.Istarted window normally but same thing happens--it closes and restart. This also happens if i chose previous configurationoption.
It happens 4-5 times then it opens--win xp
iI used system restore and window repair but no change.
then i formatted drive D thinking it may be virus but same thing is happening .
my window 98 on C drive is running normally.
Whaat is this problem and how to overcome it.
thanks

I think that the problem resides in your video card and or video drivers.
