system restore wont restore

can anyone help me to restore to earlier point, each time i try it goes through motions then say canot restore.

Boot into safe mode and go from there.

Tap the F8 key when the splash screen shows [ Thats the screen that says who made your pc] Tap it 3 or 4 times and pause

select your option with the arrow keys and enter

Fire up your machine and during POST (the screen before Windows splash screen) press F8 repeatedly.
You'll then be presented with a load of text and one of them is safe mode.

You don't want any of the ones with network, just normal Safe Mode.

rebooted in safemode but still cant restore to earlier date.
