Microsoft Office XP (Student/teach) version 02

MY COMPUTER IS A NEC GT200/500MHZ AMD-K6-2 PROCESSOR W/ 3D NOW TECHNOLOGY.
96MB SYNC DRAM-4MB DEDICATED FOR VIDEO MEMORY.
13.0 GB HARD DRIVE(9.6 AVAILABLE)
CD-REWRITABLE PLUS 40XMAXIMUM,VARIABLE SPEED
CD ROM DRIVE. 56KBPS-CAPABLE ITU,V.90-COMPLIANT MODEM. NOW MY WIFE TRIED TO INSTALL MICROSOFT OFFICE XP STANDARD FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS VERSION 2002. IT WILL NOT INSTALL, A FATAL ERROR SCREEN COME ON THE MONITOR. ALSO SOMETHING HAPPEN TO THE MODEM DURING THIS. AT FIRST THE MODEM WOULD NOT ESTABLISH AOL BUT FINALLY I RE-INSTALLED IT WITH THE MASTER RECOVERY DISK.
SO THE QUESTION IS, CAN SHE INSTALL THE SOFTWARE OR NOT. IF SHE CAN, SHE NEEDS TO TO INSTALL IT FOR A CLASS THAT SHE IS TAKING ONLINE(SHE BOUGHT IT FOR MICROSOFT WORD PROGRAMTO DO GRAPHS FOR HER MATH CLASS). MY BROTHER SAID WE NEED MORE RAM SPACE TO INSTALL IT AND WE NEEDED TO BUY A PC133 OR 256 RAM. HE ALSO MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT A SD RAM. WE ARE RUNNING WINDOW98 2ND EDITION ON OUR COMPUTER.
