.Exe files opening in Notepad

Today afternoon i tried to install Diskeeper 8.0 which gave me error-1402, i searched through internet and found a solution that i had to change registry permission. I just did that and the problem started. Now all program icons are gone, notepad icon is everywhere, with every exe, reg, inf etc. No program is executing, instead system is opening the program in notepad. .exe is not listed in file types under folder options. exefiles entry in registry is also gone. Every option on the net for that problem is to change the value of exefiles in registry but it is not there, how can i change it? secondly, on website gave me this file (reg) to run but it is not running, it is opening in notepad, i tried to import it through regedit but it says, registry entries coulnd not be entered some entries are in use. Second website gave me this: file (.com) it asks to open the website and when i run it silently it seems to have worked but nothing happened. Please help me out. I just tried to install a software and the hell happened to me. Please help me.
