Activating Windows XP

I am asking for a friend, who installed Windows XP using a bootlegged code. About 25 days have passed and she needs to activate.

She has now purchased a legal edition and wonders what to do. Can she activate just by calling Microsoft with her new code, or does she need to reinstall? Or even worse, would she have to uninstall and then reinstall?

And in addition, she does not have an Internet connection.

Needs to reinstall. She will be prompted to contact Microsoft after the installation, you can select to call them and the screen will provide phone numbers.

Hi,
I agree with your previous answer.
The new XP needs to be installed, then call Microsoft.
Best wishes.

Fred, don't you use Windows 98? There is no activation for that OS, only a key to enter. How do you know about XP activation?

More to the point is, why bother posting an answer after you had covered it completely.
