Display Settings.

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem changing my screen area size and colors on my display settings. The current color settings are 16 colors, and the screen size is 640 x 480. I've tried changing them both, and then a screen pops up and says that Windows must restart before the new settings take effect. So, my computer restarts, but the old settings are still there and nothing has changed. Can someone please help?

I'm using a Compaq Presario 1692. My operating system is Windows 98.

Thanks in advance,

-Beth

Re: Display Settings.

Hi.

It's possible this problem is caused by bad or incorrect video drivers.

If you know the model of your video card/chip, please post it.

Also, check in display settings, I forget exactly where it is, but you should see something like:

<Monitor Name> on <Video Card Driver Name>

Please post that as well.

hope we can get to the bottom of this

Re: Display Settings.

Hi psi,

I was able to get an answer from another "help" website. (I'm a traitor, I know. : ) I download a driver for my video card, and that took care of the problem. Thanks so much for your response!

Re: Display Settings.

You may not be able to change the size of the screen if your computer is 15". Good Luck.
